Frequently Asked Questions
Edited Manuscript
My manuscript has already been accepted. Why are there significant revisions to the edited manuscript? Why weren’t these queries asked by the reviewers?
The editors of The American Journal of Geriatric Pharmacotherapy are instructed to ensure that all articles provide the reader with as much information as possible in accordance with CONSORT. To comply with CONSORT, the editors may add queries regarding study design, numbers of patients, and results from each previous study mentioned in the paper so that each piece of information can be interpreted correctly. They also may request reference citations if it is not obvious that a fact came directly from the author’s study or is common knowledge.Must I answer all of the queries?
Please address all queries from the Senior Peer Review Manager as best you can, keeping in mind the details listed in the CONSORT diagram. You may overlook or ignore queries that seem unimportant to your paper, but we request that you comply as much as possible, keeping the CONSORT diagram and the reader in mind.I need to send the manuscript to additional people to review and answer various questions. Do you still expect a 3-day turnaround?
If you need additional time to ensure that your paper is complete, please let the editor know as soon as possible. Depending on the schedule, the editor may ask you to consider moving your paper to the subsequent issue. Why can’t we mention the brand name of a drug throughout our paper?
The journal considers this practice to be promotional. This is not the figure we submitted with our manuscript. Can we revert to the one we originally submitted?
For consistency, clarity, and legibility throughout the journal, the majority of figures the journal receives are redrawn by the art department. We ask that you check each figure carefully.Must I obtain permission to reproduce a table/figure that’s been published dozens of times?
Unless the table/figure is in the public domain, you must obtain permission to reproduce or adapt it, regardless of the number of times it’s been published or whether previous authors/publishers lawfully obtained permission to do so.Must I obtain permission to reproduce a table/figure for which I was the original author?
