JOURNAL SCOPE

The American Journal of Geriatric Pharmacotherapy includes papers of the following types: Full-length, original scientific reports of recent developments in drug therapy, pharmacoepidemiology, clinical pharmacology, health services research related to drug therapy and pharmaceutical outcomes research in older patients, as well as in-depth review articles on special topics related to drugs and the elderly (contact journal office for further information). The journal also publishes supplements based on proceedings of symposia and investigator meetings, and collected articles on topics such as single drugs with multiple disease applications and diseases for which multiple therapeutic approaches exist.

Specialty Sections

The American Journal of Geriatric Pharmacotherapy also contains specialty sections on Drug-Related Problems in the Elderly, which features articles on adverse drug events/reactions, prescribing appropriateness, undermedication, adverse drug withdrawal events, and Special Articles, which features articles that do not fall within the above categories. Because of the rapid publication process, time-sensitive topics are of particular interest.

Publication Timelines

Accepted manuscripts are published online 3 to 4 weeks after acceptance; the print version is published quarterly.
